What do we do?
First, watch WitFlow in action! Check out the film showing the creation of our web page and see for yourself what we do.
We have made a short film „making of” because sometimes it is easier to show something rather than tell about it. Watch how we were creating the concept of the page, how its structure was made, how we went through the process of designing, user tests and creation of graphics.
information architects almost like architects
While trying to explain what we do we often use terms like “information architect” (which invariably is associated with architecture), “service building” (which brings to mind programming ) or “creation of concepts and designs of web pages” (which is often understood as graphical work).
When we heard “Oh, so you're an architect! And what kind of houses do you build?” once again, we have decided to use this analogy to create the infographic showing a comparison of our work and the works of architects making a design of an area of detached houses. Although house building is more complicated and demanding than building of usable websites, there are still many similarities between them.
what interaction design and house building have in common
- A concept
We look for inspiration, good patterns, we learn about users' habits to create the most suitable design (the same as architects – first they learn about the demands of the clients and limitations of the location.)
- Designing
We prepare service and application wireframes as well as graphics which, as a visualisation of the concept, illustrate the specific solutions (comparably to the architectural design and visualisation of houses).
- Verification
We consult everything with experts in order to prepare thorough specifications of the projects, on the basis of which the implementation team works (the same way as architects creating execution design).
- Adaptation
We study how users cope with using the product and we match it to their needs (similarly to architects who modify the finished designs for the needs of future occupants).
- Implementation
We are not programming (like architects do not lay bricks), but we are in charge of the team's work, which is based on specification created by us.
- Optimisation
We are constantly improving the design created by our team, we are watching the behaviour of service users and we try to optimize the functionality (similarly, interior designers match the interiors to the demands of the occupants).
we do not build shacks
The creating of good and usable website, similarly to the house building, requires the involvement of many experts – designers, an implementation team or consultants. Analogically, in order to create an efficient website which leads to realization of aims, the experts need time – to learn about users' habits, to create a design, to verify and adapt it and to conduct an implementation and a final optimisation. The tight deadlines are the greatest enemy of both good building designs and designs of functional usable websites.
We devote maximum time and commitment to our realizations, we use the available tools, we conduct researches and hold consultations, because, like good architects, we do not build shacks.
